The Samsung GALAXY S III is launched in Malaysia to much fanfareA Glitzy do in the hallowed halls of One World Hotel’s Imperial Ballroom set the tone of what is most probably one of the most highly anticipated Android smartphones in the world. The Samsung GALAXY S III is here, and there is certainly much joy and fanfare.

Managing Director of Samsung Malaysia Electronics, Mr. Kwon Jae Hoon, said; “Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Samsung Galaxy S Ill has been created with our human needs and capabilities in mind. What makes me most proud is that it enables one of the most seamless, natural and human-centric mobile experiences, and opening up a new horizon that allows you to live a life extraordinarily.”

The phone is powered by Samsung’s own 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor, coupled with Google’s Android 4.0 operating system with the Samsung TouchWiz UX overlay. The 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED screen also comes in at a huge 1280 x 720 resolution, making it an excellent device for watching movies on the go.

One of the new features of the Galaxy S III is S Voice, a voice command feature that will carry out smartphone related tasks that you ask it to. S Beam, on the other hand, is a feature that allows users to share anything from contacts to images by just bumping two S Beam-enabled phones. The Smart Stay feature, which uses the phone’s front camera to track your eyes, will intelligently adjust the phone’s screen to suit your viewing.
There wasn’t any mention of availability and pricing yet, but participating telco companies (Celcom, DiGi, Maxis) will be announcing their respective plans soon. Only the 16GB model will available, in Pebble Blue and Marble White colours.
